Bliss at bedtime can be rough. Let’s be honest-bedtime can be miserable. If you were me a few years ago, I use to dread it. Because at night was when my obsessive thoughts came to life! It was as if bedtime was “let’s replay Tessa’s entire day and have her obsess over everything that wasn’t perfect.” Then when I would try to stop the thoughts, I’d worry even more that I couldn’t turn off my brain.
It’s time to take charge of bedtime and get some well deserved rest! Who’s with me?
I use to think bedtime routines were lame, like I use to think meditation was stupid-heck I use to think everything I survive off of today was for weirdos. But I love my sleepy time routine because it’s put me in the best mindset.
First what I do is, I turn off all the lights in my room and sit on my bed with my legs crossed and my back in an upright position. Then for a couple of minutes I focus on my breath, if thoughts come, I let them be. I don’t worry too much over having the thoughts, I just return my attention to the breath. After my breath-watching, I say a list of “I Ams”. These are things that may not be true, but I believe to be true. So I may not feel confident after the day I had, but I will still say “I Am Confident.” Because as Roman Price, my mentor, friend, and founder of Lifepulp.com, would say, “If you get the mind right, the body simply follows.” So by telling yourself this, your body and actions will start to mimic this thought. Here are some of my favorite “I Ams”:
I am all that I need.
I am abundance.
I am free of limiting beliefs.
I am limitless.
I am Tessa.
I will usually say more, but those are just some ideas. What’s most important when saying these “I Ams” is you have to FEEL it. Feel abundant, feel limitless, feel free. Let your body be hugged by these powerful statements. I will feel like I am wrapped in positive energy.
To finish off this high-powered, bedtime routine I will say the words of Gabby Bernstein, the spirit-junkie herself, “I believe in miracles. Spirit show me what you got!”
After this, my body and my mind feel so calm that I peacefully drift off into sleep. This also helps me start a positive tomorrow.
For all those who have been struggling with sleep, try this! Let me know if it helps you
