If there is one thing I know to be true, it is that fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.
Seems pretty simple, right? If that is all fear is, why does it cause us so much pain?
I believe our fears are our greatest learning lessons. My biggest fear is feeling unsafe within my environment, my body, and my mind. The moment I feel unbalanced and not myself, fear creeps in, and suddenly my whole self shuts down. Everything appears to be a battle, and that battle feels like something I am losing. I try to control my external factors. I’ll say a bunch of “If..then” statements. If I just had more time to rest, then I’d feel better. If I just didn’t have class right now, then I’d feel safe. All of these statements eat away at me. They have me convinced that my world isn’t unfolding for me to be my best self.
When in fact, all the events, experiences, emotions are occurring just as they are suppose to—growing me into my most authentic being.
This idea of choosing to see fear for what is becomes my source of strength.
Realize this: your life is your choice and your fears are your choices. How can you choose to see them differently? If losing yourself within your fears is not a choice, let’s embrace what our fears are guiding us to face, showing us a way to live life more authentically.
